Abstract
Background: The most cost-benefit effective way to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases (VPD) is to goal and maintain vaccination coverage level above the herd immunity threshold of disease transmission prevention. In Korea, the government is establishing some policies to achieve more than 95% of immunization coverage through routine immunization guidelines and/or activities (the National Immunization Program, NIP). The national vaccination coverage is an important indicator of the NIP. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) publicly is reporting the national level of vaccination coverage since 2015.

Methods/results: This report introduces the vaccination coverage in 2019 from National Registration Information System by using 1.5 million data of children aged 12 months (born in 2018), 24 months (born in 2017), 36 months (born in 2016), 72 months (born in 2013). The complete vaccination coverage of subjects aged 12, 24, 36, 72 months in 2019 were 96.5%, 94.2%, 91.5%, and 84.8%, respectively. This report also describes the sub-national results of vaccination coverage rate and suggestions on future directions.

Conclusion: Korea¡¯s vaccination coverage is higher than the advanced or developed countries. Nevertheless, more investment and research are needed to identify vaccine hesitancy, vaccine refusal, the anti-vaccine movement, and vulnerable social group.
